The organization is in its fourth year and tallies the pairs of shoes given away at 16,000 by the end of October. Executive Director Kris Horlacher says Friday's kick off had a greater purpose, to teach each child that kindness matters. "The kids that we help are very generous in their spirits. They're very kind," said Horlacher. The kids quickly turned that kindness into action. Each one made a card for another child in the hospital. "Here's somebody who browse is doing a kindness for these kids and these kids are going to pay it forward," said Vicki Giambrone, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for Dayton Children's Hospital. Giambrone says there are 300,000 children treated a year at Dayton Childrens. <br>Source: http://www.wdtn.com/news/local/montgomery/shoes-for-the-shoeless-benefit-children
